“Hello, Leo,” the Joker whispered. His voice was Sam’s. Exactly Sam’s. “You finally got to 100%. I was waiting. Save 50 isn’t the end , Leo. It’s the cage.”

Leo spun around. Nothing. Just dusty cardboard boxes and the corpse of a dehumidifier.

Sam never finished it. A hit-and-run on a rain-slicked Gotham avenue saw to that.

He didn't play for fun. He played like a monk copying scripture. Each trophy collected was a prayer. Each Riddler hostage rescued was a whispered apology for not being there the night Sam was killed.

The Joker on the screen tilted his head. “Sam didn’t want to finish the game, Leo. He wanted to stay in it. That’s why he left Save 50 empty. He was saving it for me. You didn’t finish his work. You opened the door.”

A single tear traced a cold line down his cheek. He had done it. He had given Sam his perfect save file. He could almost hear his brother’s voice: “Dude, you actually did it? No way. You’re a legend.”

The storage facility’s security camera recorded nothing but a man sitting alone in front of a dead TV, staring at nothing, smiling a smile that was far too wide. “You finally got to 100%
