“It’s done,” she said. “But every conversion has a cost.”

Leo stared at the blinking cursor on his dusty monitor. His external hard drive, a graveyard of corrupted video files from his college film club, had just given up the ghost. Or rather, it was playing a ghost—choppy, unsynced, and utterly useless.
“I just need one file,” he whispered. “The final cut.”
