I’ve used GX Developer 8.86 for maintaining older Mitsubishi PLC systems (primarily the A series and early Q series). If you are working on legacy equipment, this software is essential. However, compared to modern IDEs like GX Works 2 or 3, it feels very dated.
Maintenance technicians in factories with 15+ year old Mitsubishi equipment. Not recommended for: Students, new projects, or anyone used to modern PLC software like Studio 5000 or TIA Portal.
