For a generation of children (and terrified adults), the 1990 adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches is not just a movie—it is a rite of passage. Directed by the visionary Nicolas Roeg and anchored by Anjelica Huston’s terrifyingly glamorous Grand High Witch, the film exists in a strange purgatory. It is neither a forgotten B-movie nor a mainstream Disney staple.

Whether you are searching in streaming categories, digital storefronts, physical media bins, or revival house listings, The Witches (1990) is out there. It requires persistence, precise keywords, and a willingness to look beyond the "New Releases" tab. But when you see Anjelica Huston remove her face, you’ll remember: some masterpieces are worth the hunt. For a generation of children (and terrified adults),

Just made these with gluten free flour and they turned out so well! I had to use quite a bit more gf flour (maybe an additional 1/2 cup – I used Bob’s Red Mill GF All Purpose because it was what I had, though I wouldn’t recommend it) to get the texture of the dough right before I rolled it out. The flavor was still spot-on, and the texture was great. Will definitely make these again with regular flour next time! Thanks for the great recipe.
