Sages and gods plead for relief from the tyrannical King Kansa of Mathura. Kansa, son of King Ugrasen, has imprisoned his own father. A divine voice (Akashvani) announces that Kansa will be killed by the eighth child of his sister, Devaki. Kansa immediately kills Devaki's first six children. The seventh (Balram) is miraculously transferred to Rohini's womb. The eighth, Krishna, is born on a stormy night in the prison. Vishnu appears as an infant. Arjuna arrives to find a ghost city. He takes the surviving women to Hastinapur, but on the way, his divine weapons fail. He weeps. The serial ends with a narrator saying: "Wherever there is righteousness, there Krishna is. He never dies; he is within us all."
