This paper analyzes the evolving image of leading Tamil actresses (T. P. Rajalakshmi, M. S. Subbulakshmi, B. Saroja Devi, etc.) through film posters, publicity photos, and song sequences. It argues that their on-screen and off-screen personas shaped modern Tamil womanhood.
